Anish Kapoor - "Cloud Gate"

(b. Bombay, India 1954)
Anish Kapoor has lived and worked in London since the early 70's and is known for his enigmatic sculptural forms that permeate physical and psychological space. Kapoor's inventiveness and versatility have resulted in works ranging from powdered pigment sculptures and site-specific interventions on wall or floor, to gigantic installations both in and outdoors, including Marsyas at the Turbine Hall, Tate Modern. Anish Kapoor won the Premio 2000 in 1990 when he represented the British Pavilion at the XLIV Venice Biennial, and was awarded the Turner Prize in 1991.
